The Las Fuentes seafront promenade is the quiet promenade of Alcossebre (Alcalà de Xivert, Castellón): flat, beside the sea and with the marina as its goal. It's perfect for a daily, unhurried walk, with the grandchildren in tow. This guide covers it stretch by stretch, starting beside the Marino apartments.
Stretch 1: Les Fonts beach
The promenade runs alongside Les Fonts beach (Las Fuentes), with fine sand and about 400 metres long and 40 metres wide. Its trademark is the freshwater springs that bubble up through the sand itself, from an ancient underground aquifer. That's where the beach, and the whole area, gets its name.

What you'll find on the beach:
- Lifeguards in season.
- Toilets, showers and foot taps.
- Access ramps, easy for pushchairs and for anyone walking with a stick.
- A children's play area and equipment hire.
For grandparents with grandchildren, the classic plan is a swim in the morning, back to the apartment for lunch and an afternoon stroll to the marina.
Stretch 2: Las Fuentes marina
At the end of the promenade is Las Fuentes marina, with 283 berths according to 2026 figures. It is home to the Club de Vela Alcossebre, which runs an accredited sailing school, and other boating activities in the area also set off from here.

Things to do at the marina:
- Watch the boats and the yachts coming and going at sunset, with the Serra d'Irta as a backdrop.
- Find out about the club's sailing school (ask there about courses and seasons).
- Boat trips and diving excursions to the Columbretes Islands Natural Park, which you can visit from this marina.
- Alcossebre also has kayak and paddleboard companies.
Company names change from year to year; the tourist office will give you an up-to-date list.

Eating on the promenade
Next to the marina entrance, right on Las Fuentes beach, is El Náutico restaurant, run by the Club Náutico Las Fuentes and specialising in rice dishes and fish. If you'd like to know more about the local cuisine and where to sit by the sea, there's a dedicated guide to eating on the Las Fuentes promenade. Around the development there are also cafés, a bakery and supermarkets for day-to-day needs.
Stretch 3 (optional): Cala Blanca and the lighthouse
Following the coast north, the shoreline turns rocky and you reach Cala Blanca, a small cove of fine sand and pebbles about 30 × 10 metres, next to the Alcossebre lighthouse. The tourism website describes access as "difficult", so it's more of a viewpoint than a beach for spending the day with children.
This is where the Serra d'Irta Natural Park begins. From Cala Blanca you can pick up route 2 on foot (Faro d'Irta - Cala Cubanita - Font de la Parra, 12.8 km, easy) and the Ruta del Cranc cycle route, the coastal track to Peñíscola. For an afternoon walk, it's enough to reach the lighthouse, gaze at the sea and head back.
Bear in mind that in summer you need to book a parking space in the official GVA Parcs Naturals app to drive along the park's coastal track.
A walk for every time of day
| When | Plan |
|---|---|
| Early morning | A walk along the shore at Les Fonts, with the beach almost empty |
| Morning | A swim in the sea or in the complex pool |
| Midday | Rice or fish overlooking the marina |
| Afternoon | Stroll to the marina to see the boats |
| Sunset | Carry on to Cala Blanca and the lighthouse |
Practical tips
- The stretch from the beach to the marina is flat; the section to Cala Blanca and the lighthouse is steeper and more uneven.
- In high summer, walk early or at sunset and take water and a hat.
- Out of season, the promenade is a peaceful pleasure: Alcossebre enjoys more than 2,700 hours of sunshine a year.
Where to get information
For maps, routes and up-to-date events, Alcossebre has two tourist offices: Tourist Info Alcossebre, in Plaza Vistalegre in the town centre, and Tourist Info Alcossebre-Romana. Both are partner information points for the Serra d'Irta Natural Park. The park's visitor centre is in Peñíscola. If you plan to walk a trail in the hills, check the park rules first: lighting fires is forbidden and wild camping is not allowed.
If you'd like to stay with the promenade on your doorstep, take a look at the Marino and Marino Superior apartments or read why choose the beachfront at Las Fuentes.
